Adare, the €300,000 earner at CSIO5* 1.60m level
This stunning dark bay mare has an undeniable presence, with her sharp, intelligent eye and refined elegance. Her fine frame reveals the powerful muscle structure of a true athlete. Adare is an extraordinary competitor with remarkable longevity, having performed at the highest level for six years with five different riders. Beyond her incredible physical qualities, she has shown outstanding mental strength, with resilience and adaptability that set her apart.
Adare has been ridden by some of the most prestigious riders in the world: Martin Fuchs, Roberto Turchetto, Lauren Hough, Paris Sellon, and Laura Kraut. She has competed in some of the most iconic arenas on the circuit: Hickstead, Thermal, Wellington, Gijón, Tryon, Windsor, Ascona, Del Mar… Accessing the genetics of such a mare is a rare privilege, especially now that her first foal, Dream Big Eq Z (a bay filly by Demonic Z), was born in 2024.
Royal Bravour, Burggraaf, Farn : stallions of excellence
Adare is by Royal Bravour, a top-level performer in CSIW5* 1.60m classes with Peter Geerink. He inherited his grey coat from his damsire Orthos, himself a grandson of the great Gotthard. Gotthard, the iconic grey Hanoverian stallion, is one of the founding sires of modern European sport horse breeding.
The cross between Ramiro and Gotthard-line mares has produced spectacular results, Robin I Z, Renomée Z, Robin II Z and Royal Bravour (Ramiro x Orthos) follows in the same tradition. Royal Bravour also had a full brother, Damiro L, who also performed at CSIO5* 1.60m and became a sire of notable winners.
Burggraaf, another major name in Adare’s pedigree, was a CSIW5* winner with Roelof Bril. He sired over fifty licensed stallions and many elite broodmares. Among them, the remarkable Burggravin, winner of World Cup Grands Prix in Mechelen and Amsterdam, who is also the granddam of the outstanding stallion Darry Lou (by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve), with over €1,500,000 in earnings. Burggraaf passed on his powerful build and impressive scope, making his bloodline particularly valuable when integrated into a pedigree.
Farn (Fax I), the Holsteiner who became a cornerstone of the KWPN, was born in Germany but left a lasting mark in the Netherlands. His son Nimmerdor became a founding sire himself, and Nimmerdor’s son Heartbreaker is now one of the most sought-after bloodlines in modern sport horse breeding. Farn’s genetic influence has become globally dominant through his most famous descendants.
The outstanding maternal line of H&M Extra
The foundation mare of this KWPN damline is the chestnut Maike, born in 1971, by the Thoroughbred Krawall and out of a dam by the influential Amor. Amor, a powerful Holsteiner, was exported at a young age to the Netherlands, where he became a key breeding stallion. He was not only a great sire of winners but an exceptional broodmare sire. The renowned stallion Animo (Almé x Amor) is a perfect illustration of that legacy.
Maike is the third dam of Adare, and also the third dam of Pucinda (by Concorde), an excellent broodmare and dam of Mandy (by Marlon), a top-level CSI5* 1.60m mare for Germany with Andreas Knippling, as well as of Wucinda (by Heartbreaker), herself the dam of More Than Extra (by Berlin), a CSI4* 1.60m performer for Brazil, and the champion stallion H&M Extra (by Berlin), approved by Zangersheide and SWB.
H&M Extra has earned €429,000 in CSIO5* and LGCT Grands Prix under Olivier Philippaerts, including a third place in the Rome Grand Prix, a win in the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, fifth in the GCT Miami Grand Prix, ninth in the London World Cup GP, and sixth in the Grand Prix in St. Tropez. The mare Hucinta (by Namelus R), granddaughter of Pucinda, is also a highly successful competitor in CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix classes.
