Colunga de Mies: A True Genetic Jewel with a Legacy at the Top Level

Colunga de Mies is a true genetic treasure, both as a direct daughter of the legendary Cassini I—one of the pillars of modern sport horse breeding—and as the dam and granddam of horses competing up to CSI5 1.60m* on the Global Champions Tour.

Colunga de Mies, dam and granddam of CSI5 1.60m champions*
Her first daughter, Coco de Mies (by Centauer Z), is an outstanding broodmare who produced two world-class performers: Corelli de Mies and Tiffany de Olid.
Corelli de Mies (by Calvaro), approved by the Zangersheide Studbook, stood out on the CSI4* circuit with Nisse Luneburg, winning the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix, before competing in CSI5* 1.60m with Edwina Tops-Alexander on the Global Champions Tour. With €195,000 in earnings, he has proven himself as a top-level competitor.

Another star from Coco de Mies is Tiffany de Olid (by Huppydam des Horts), who began her career up to 1.45m with Manuel Fernandez Saro, then rose to the top level with Samuel Parot, earning over €166,000 and collecting numerous placings at 1.60m—including a major win in the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix in Guadalajara, Mexico. Before stepping into top sport, Tiffany de Olid foaled a filly by Arko III, named Yira de Olid, now competing at 1.40m as a 9-year-old.

And Colunga de Mies is not only remarkable through her daughter’s production—her own offspring are impressive too. Troya de Olid (by Centauer Z) is a competitive mare on the CSI3 and CSI4 circuits at 1.50m** with Egyptian rider Zain Shady Samir. Her sister, Colombine de Mies (by Carrera VDL), is successfully competing at 1.40m at just 8 years old under Marie Pellegrin.

Colunga de Mies, full sister and sibling to multiple international performers
Colunga de Mies comes from an exceptional sibling group. Her full brother Cascaro (Cassini I) jumped at CSIO5 1.60m* level with Anna Markel, representing Austria in Nations Cups (St. Gallen, Samorin, Sopot, etc.).
Con Cap (by Con Air) is an approved DWB stallion in Denmark. Landsdream 2 (by Landos) was a consistent 1.40m performer in CSI2* and CSI3* events.
Clintofino (by Clinton I) jumped CSI3* 1.50m with Shane Breen, while his full brother Clintfino (also by Clinton I) is a top performer for Elian Baumann and Switzerland, competing up to CSIO5 1.55m* (Leipzig, Geneva, Barcelona, Sopot, St. Gallen…).
Their dam, Moon Light (by Corofino), produced multiple top horses—Colunga de Mies among them, and Coco de Mies in turn as a dam of international stars. This is a maternal line that undeniably passes on sporting quality.

Cassini I, Corofino I, and Caletto II: Holsteiner icons
Colunga de Mies is a direct daughter of Cassini I (Capitol I x Caletto II), a legend of European breeding and sire of unforgettable names like Cumano, Berlin, Carambole, and Cabrio. He is not only a proven sire of stallions, but also an exceptional dam sire.

Cassini I brings in the valuable bloodlines of Capitol I and Cor de la Bryère—Capitol I being his sire, and Cor de la Bryère the sire of Caletto II.

Colunga de Mies carries three direct lines to Cor de la Bryère:

  • through Cassini I, grandson of Caletto II
  • through her dam, by Corofino, son of Corrado I (by Cor de la Bryère)
  • and through her second dam, who is one of the rare direct daughters of Caletto II

From the maternal line of Raimond, sire of Ramiro Z
This family traces back to Infra (Holsteiner 1950 by Fanatiker), the dam of Raimond (by Ramzes), sire of the legendary Ramiro Z—founder of an iconic dynasty including Ratina Z, Robin I Z, Rebel I Z, and more. Infra is the sixth dam of Colunga de Mies.
Her daughter Colea, by Colonel (a son of the foundational Thoroughbred Cottage Son xx), passed on her quality to a long line of successful sport horses, including Himalaya van het Molenhof (by Heartbreaker, CSI 1.50m) and Abracadabra WKT (by Casall, CSI 1.50m)
