The dam of Surprise de Blondel, Olympic Champeix, was one of the best mares of her generation at 6 years old, ISO 144, before becoming an outstanding broodmare. Bred to Calvaro, Olympic Champeix produced in 2006 two full brothers who both competed at CSI5* 1.60m level: Santiago de Blondel and Snaike de Blondel. Santiago de Blondel represented Spain in Nations Cups at CSIO5* 1.60m with Manuel Fernandez Saro, while Snaike de Blondel represented Ireland in Nations Cups at CSIO5* 1.60m with Conor Swail. Snaike de Blondel notably finished 2nd in the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix in Calgary Spruce Meadows.
