More About Coco de Mies
Coco de Mies: A Remarkable Broodmare with Proven CSI5 Offspring*
Coco de Mies is nothing short of an outstanding dam, having produced two CSI5 1.60m performers* out of just eight foals. Few mares can boast such a record!
Coco de Mies, dam of top-level champions
By Calvaro out of Coco de Mies, Corelli de Mies is an approved stallion in the Zangersheide Studbook. He first made a name for himself with Nisse Luneburg, winning the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix, before stepping up to the CSI5* 1.60m level with Edwina Tops-Alexander on the Global Champions Tour. With €195,000 in prize money, Corelli de Mies has proven himself to be a true international competitor.
And Coco de Mies didn’t stop there. Just a year after Corelli, she produced Tiffany de Olid (by Huppydam des Horts), born in 2012. Initially brought along by Manuel Fernandez Saro up to the 1.45m level, Tiffany went on to compete at the top of the sport with Samuel Parot, earning more than €166,000, including multiple placings at 1.60m and a standout victory in the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix in Guadalajara, Mexico. Before stepping into the international arena, Tiffany de Olid foaled a filly by Arko III, named Yira de Olid, who is now showing at 1.40m at the age of 9.
The precious influence of Capitol I
Coco de Mies is by the Holsteiner stallion Centauer Z, a powerful bay exported to Spain and sired by Capitol I out of a Lord mare. Both are cornerstones of Holsteiner breeding and remain highly sought after in European pedigrees. But Capitol I appears again in Coco de Mies’ maternal line: her dam is a direct daughter of Cassini I (Capitol I x Caletto II), another legendary sire and the father of greats such as Cumano and Berlin.
Coco de Mies’ second dam is by Corofino, a top Holsteiner stallion by Corrado I (Cor de la Bryère x Capitol I). Corofino has sired numerous winners (Fresh Direct Corlato, Chatman, Vagabon des Forêts…) and is especially influential as a dam sire. He also comes from the maternal line of Option (by Lord), which produced the likes of Coriano and Diarado. Coco de Mies’ fourth dam was by Capitano, who is—interestingly—the sire of Capitol I. The global impact of Capitol I (sire of Carthago, Cassini I, Cento…) is undeniable, and it’s deeply reinforced in Coco de Mies’ pedigree through multiple influential crosses.
The maternal line of Raimond, sire of Ramiro Z
The foundation mare Infra (Holst 1950, by Fanatiker) is none other than the dam of Raimond (by Ramzes), the sire of the legendary Ramiro Z, from whom came Ratina Z, Robin I Z, Rebel I Z, and many others. Infra is the seventh dam of Coco de Mies—what a lineage!
Her daughter Colea, by Colonel (a son of the influential Thoroughbred Cottage Son xx, a cornerstone of the modern sport horse), extended the line with descendants such as Himalaya van het Molenhof (Heartbreaker, 1.50m), Abracadabra WKT (Casall, 1.50m), and Cascaro (Cassini I), full brother to Coco de Mies’ dam and a strong performer at CSIO5* 1.60m, representing Austria in Nations Cups. Also in the family: Clintfino (CSIO3* 1.55m), and Quiberon W (Quidam de Revel), a 1.50m competitor for Italy.
