More About Calgot Verdi
Calgot Verdi is uniquely the direct offspring of two world champions, Liscalgot and Verdi Tn—a rare case indeed! Accessing this exclusive genetics is an opportunity not to be missed.
Daughter of the World champion Liscalgot
Calgot Verdi is the daughter of the unforgettable Liscalgot, the grand champion of the early 2000s under the saddle of the Irishman Dermott Lennon. Liscalgot was a mare that made her mark on the era with her exceptional results, as well as her tenacity, liveliness, and unique style. This grand dame of equestrian sports will be remembered as the individual gold medalist at the 2002 World Championships in Jerez. Not to be forgotten are her team gold medal for Ireland at the 2001 European Championships in Arnhem, her victory at the 2002 World Cup Grand Prix in Dortmund, and numerous other wins in CSIO5* events (Hickstead, Berlin, Rotterdam, Dublin, etc.). Liscalgot is truly one of those who have made a mark on the history of show jumping. This champion produced only ten foals, and Calgot Verdi can proudly claim her as her mother.
Daughter of the World champion Verdi Tn
The crack performer Verdi Tn is also a top breeder. Verdi Tn comes from the classic and proven cross of Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I, combining French blood with Holstein genes. Partnered with Maikel Van Der Vleuten, Verdi Tn performed very well for many years, participating in two Olympic Games (London 2012 – Rio 2016), two European Championships (Herning 2013 – Aachen 2015), three World Cup finals, and one World Championship (Caen 2014). With the Dutch team, Verdi Tn was crowned World Champion in Caen and Olympic Vice-Champion in London. Verdi Tn has competed numerous times alongside his offspring, demonstrating exceptional longevity and equally exceptional quality of production. His son, Chaplin, won the 2022 World Cup Final in Leipzig.
Precious genes of Galoubet A
Touchdown, the sire of Liscalgot, was himself a top performer in CSIO5* 1.60m for Ireland with James Kernan. Born in Ireland from an Irish mare and sired by the French foundation sire, Galoubet A (Almé), Galoubet A was a team world champion in Dublin in 1982, known for his bucking, abilities, unusual style, and energy. His granddaughter, Liscalgot, shows striking similarities to the legendary Galoubet A.
Tulla’s Pride, the rise of an exceptional new maternal Line
Relying on a solid maternal line is one of the foundations of rationalized breeding, but it is sometimes difficult to “break new ground” in today’s globalized sport horse breeding. With Tulla’s Pride, there is assurance of high-quality sport genes and originality. Tulla’s Pride, an Irish Sport Horse mare from a Thoroughbred sire, had only two foals, a female, Liscalgot (Touchdown), and a male, Out of Touch (Touchdown). Out of Touch won in CSI3* 1.50m for Ireland, but he is particularly distinguished by a very high-quality production despite few offspring; Touch of Chilli stood out in CSIO5* 1.60m, while twelve other offspring from Out of Touch are international competitors in 3* and 4* Eventing. The only daughter of Tulla’s Pride, then, is the world champion, Liscalgot. Liscalgot’s progeny live up to her performances, both in the first and subsequent generations. When quality is passed down through generations, a maternal line is established. Among the best descendants of Liscalgot, notable are Calgot Pleasure (For Pleasure & Liscalgot) CSIO5* 1.60m, Vivalgot (Vivaldo Van Het Costerveld & Liscalgot) CSI4* 1.60m, Athletix Hero z (Aganix du Seigneur & a daughter of Liscalgot) CSI3* 1.55m, All Pleasure Hero z (Aganix du Seigneur & Calgot Pleasure) CSI5* 1.50m. Promising young descendants of Liscalgot are currently in training and are on the verge of high-level sport. The lineage of Tulla’s Pride is rapidly developing, no doubt it will take an increasingly significant place among the most sought-after global lines.
Calgot Verdi, progeny in the making
Calgot Verdi possesses world-class genetics, so it is no surprise that her first offspring (born from 2014 onwards) are successfully progressing internationally. Changuna Heureka z (Curby du Seigneur) wins at 1.45m for Portugal, Cascade Heureka z (Casall) was sold at two years old for €105,000 with the prospect of becoming an elite mare, Flying Heureka z (For Pleasure) 1.45m for Belgium, Ulysses (For Pleasure) approved Z stallion CSI 1.45m with Cian O’Connor, and Kailash Heureka z (Kassander Van’t Rossaker) CSI2* 1.45m for France.
